Beitbridge — Details in the mystery surrounding the death of a man whose body was found this morning have started to emerge with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Beitbridge reporting the tragic incident as a hit and run and identifying the deceased as 44 year old Pedzisai Makotose.
According to police reports, the incident occurred early this morning around 5:00 AM. Pedzisai was found lying dead near St. Joseph Primary School, along an unnamed road between St. Joseph Primary School and Medium Density area, heading due north.
Initial investigations indicate that Pedzisai was hit by an unidentified motor vehicle on this stretch of road.
The vehicle fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving no trace behind. The victim sustained severe head injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
Members of the ZRP Beitbridge Urban, Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Canine Unit, and Traffic Department responded promptly to the scene.
The body of Makotose Pedzisai was transported to Beitbridge District Mortuary, where it awaits post-mortem examination and the deceased has been identified by his wife, Gaudentia Chibhongoro.
Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the identification of the vehicle involved.
