Soon after hogging the limelight for allegedly faking his graduation with a Law Degree at the University of Zimbabwe, controversial former Chegutu West legislator Dexter Nduna is at it again, this time instructing the Bulawayo City Council to ditch Tendy Three Investment (TTI).

TTI is the company responsible for managing parking space in the city of Kings and Queens and the former Chegutu West Legislator is asking the city of Bulawayo to remove it in favour of   National Eye Security, a company he is involved with.

In his letter addressed to the BCC Town Clerk accuses TTI of withholding some collected the collected parking fees, money laundering, tax evasion and sponsoring of opposition parties activities.

“The said private company is not remitting the total monies which are public funds for the intended purpose of roads maintenance to you or the ministry of transport. I have written to the said company armed with section 62 of the constitution on the rights of access to information but the response from them was very negative and have maintained that they can’t be accountable on these funds since they are a private company. Company a part of Team chapter in the collection and remittance of the 100% parking fees to yourself and the ministry of transport for the purpose of roads infrastructure development which is its primary purpose,” said Nduna in his letter.

Nduna goes on to allege that TTI could be collecting up to one million dollars that it is not remitting to the city council.

“Daily fees collections could amount to one million US dollars per day according to the more than 100 thousand parking spaces in Bulawayo at a minimum of 105 per each parking space per day plus clamping or tow away fees.”

“This money if left in the wrong hands as is currently the case could be used to sponsor negative projects which could have adverse effects in the country’s development.

According to Nduna, his National eye security company is ready to commence operations on the 23rd of September 2024 any other day close to the aforementioned “with a hope of stopping money laundering tax evasion fraud and sponsoring of opposition politics which I strongly feel is what is obtaining currently at TTI.”

The former ZANU PF legislator is also proposing slashing the parking fees to 0.50 c USD OR 5 Rand per hour.

A lot of Bulawayo residents have previously expressed misgivings about TTI and its operations including the parking fees it is charging but reckon Nduna’s proposal is not a solution to the problem.

“He is raising good issues with a very wrong solution. Surely you cannot want to personally benefit if it’s a popular cause,” said one Bulawayo resident.
