BEITBRIDGE’s Donzvo Entertainment is set to begin production of The Bridge Drama Series Season 1 this June 2026, with the project being directed by Shimron Sibanda.

The production follows the success of the drama’s pilot episode, which won the Best Film award at the Sundrive Awards in 2023.

Building on that achievement, the company will now produce a six-episode first season.

The Bridge centres on the events that unfold after the death of Godfrey, popularly known as Mr Kunaka being the Protagonist in the series.

The story explores the conflict between his immediate family and extended relatives as they battle over the legacy he leaves behind.

The production series highlights the diverse community of Beitbridge, showcasing local languages and cultures, including Shona, Venda and Sotho.

It also addresses real-life social issues that audiences can learn from and relate to.

Teasers for the upcoming series have already been released on Facebook and TikTok, where they are receiving positive engagement from viewers.

Speaking to Ziyah News Network, Donzvo Entertainment director Shimron Sibanda expressed his excitement about the project.

“I feel so excited about this one. After winning awards in 2023, we are now geared to shoot six episodes of the production,” he said.

Sibanda also said that viewers can expect strong performances from the cast.

“People should expect fire performance as the cast is ready to bring the best of action and real-life stories that a lot of people will relate to,” he said.

Production is expected to commence this month as the company prepares to bring the award-winning story to television audiences through its first full season.
