THE Dulibadzimu United technical team has asked fans to come in large numbers and support their home side as it takes on Dinson Mvuma at Ronnie’s Arena in Beitbridge, this weekend.
Duliz team Manager Ferdinand “Mashefu” Matete said, “Our fans are the heartbeat of this club. When Ronnie’s Arena is full, the players feel it — and it helps them play better. We invite everyone to come, wear the team colors, and cheer us on.”
“After a slow start to the second round, we are now building from an away draw. We hope to get three points because it has been a long time. We will be careful because Mvuma is not an easy team. United we stand, divided we fall,” Matete said.
Matete also said the team is aiming for a top 4 finish this season and is already planning for next season.
After a good start and a top four finish at the end of the first part, Dulibadzimu United, now the only Beitbridge team in the First Division, dipped its form following the departure of 10 players and their coach Rutherford Matondo.
Top players Benedict Sithole and Ephanny Gwavava were among those who left and that duo joined Hardrock in the same league in Kwekwe. Matondo went with them.
An official who asked not to be named said of late the team was rocked by mass resignations of officials amid that some members abused the name of the club to make money for personal gain.
“They happen to be the most talkative. They raised money from activities they claimed were on behalf of the club but while players went without food, these people did not remit anything to the club,” said an official who asked not to be named.
The Vice chairman of Dulibadzimu United Rex Mphisa confirmed there had been resignations by members who cited interference and verbal abuse by other officials.
“Yes but we cannot discuss something under investigation. Of course we have had members who decided not to continue, we also have those accused of bullying others, but as usual we expect soccer to unite us,” he said.
As for Saturday match, it’s game on, we will rise again, he said.
