Dulibadzimu United FC (1) Matobo FC (1) 1

Dulibadzimu United were on Saturday held to a disappointing draw by Matobo FC in a ZIFA Central Region Division 1 clash played on Saturday at Dulivhadzimu Stadium.

Despite dominating the first 30 minutes and creating several clear chances, Dulibadzimu failed to convert their opportunities into goals, leaving fans and officials frustrated with the result.

The main culprit was winger Mike Nezungai who at one time failed in front of a yawning goal with the keeper lost in dribbling.

He was to repeat the mistake in the secondary half they left a loved striker with three defenders and a keeper who even had the luxury to chest control shots at goal.

“Football is a game of three outcomes win, draw, or lose but it’s very disappointing to draw a match we controlled early on,” said Fednard “Mashefu” Matete, the team manager.

The club’s Press and Liaison Officer also expressed disappointment but praised the team’s fighting spirit.

“Our fans were expecting a win, and we truly wanted to deliver that. The boys gave it their all and tried every trick in the book to get the three points, but it just wasn’t our day,” he said.

He went on to thank the supporters, saying, “To our fans, we’re grateful for the love and support. Without you, we are nothing.”

Looking ahead, Dulibadzimu United are preparing for their next fixture an away game against Sheasham FC.

“It won’t be an easy match, but with our fans behind us, we are confident we can bring the three points home,” said the Press Officer. “In Venda we say, ‘Ugonya mudoro nga muthana u fhedzi’ meaning the journey may be tough, but the goal is within reach. The boys are ready.”

But a supporter who asked for anonymity said Dulibadzimu United is not doing itself a favour by disappointing it’s supporters.

“They have gone for long without winning. They should have buried Matobo in the first half but we don’t know whether it’s the players half-hearted approach or it’s just bad luck. But one way or the other happy days must return, ” said the supporter.
