The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP)has announced the arrest of eight individuals following a series of operations targeting drug and substance abuse in Harare and Beitbridge between 2nd March and 4th of March 2025.
The eight suspects aged between 26 and 41, who were arrested include Mphakamiseni Dhlamini, Ishmael Chikara, Linda Jimu, Priviledge Muchenje (also known as Ndanatsei Muchenje), Sylia Tanyanyiwa, Simbarashe Maenzanise, Siphelile Mashamba, and Alice Shatirwa.
Zimbabwean Republic Police recovered a substantial amount of illegal substances during these operations, including 151 kilograms of dagga, 260 bottles of 100 Broncleer Syrup, and an undetermined quantity of Crystal Meth.
The majority of dagga was seized at the Beitbridge Border Post which is a known hotspot for drug trafficking activities.
Zimbabwe Republic Police issued a warning saying “Individuals and groups involved in the peddling and trafficking of drugs should be aware that the law will take its course without fear or favour.”
The police have also encouraged the public to assist in combatting drug-related crimes by sharing information through the National Complaints Desk at (0242) 703631, via WhatsApp at 0712 800 197, or at any nearest police station.
The ongoing operations underscore the police’s commitment to end drug abuse and promoting a safer community for all citizens.
