FALCON Air, the air wing of (Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (RIDA) (formerly District Development Fund (DDF), flies into Beitbridge on November 21 in a launch of their passenger flights between Harare and Beitbridge.
A programme sent to stakeholders in Beitbridge says the launch will be held at the Beitbridge Airstrip.
“The Harare-Beitbridge-Harare flight launch will be held on November 21, 2025, at the Beitbridge Airstrip, with guests requested to be seated by 9:15 am.,” said the notice for the programme.
Falcon Air latched on an opportunity presented by the business between Harare and Beitbridge close to 600 kilometres apart.
Recently RIDA staff came to Beitbridge for an initial meeting they may have missed the major stakeholders in shipping houses, transporters, bus operators and numerous business people living in Beit.
Their proposed air transport will bring Harare about one and half hours closer at about $120, the proposed initial fare for the route.
Falcon Air brings in the deal a 12 seater plane.
The launch to be chaired by Beitbridge District Development Coordinator Sikhangezile Mafu will include a scenic flight for Beitbridge stakeholders.
Several Beitbridge residents and some businessmen in Harare are keen to have flight initiated.
“We met with shipping agents representatives in Harare an it was a successful encounter. Some of them are part of our November 21 passengers. We need a minimum of eight passengers for cost recovery,” said an official of RIDA Monica Chogumaira.
She said the flights, if attractive, will be at least twice a week.
