A delegation from the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) is set to arrive in Beitbridge Friday, November 14, 2025, as part of a week-long targeted review mission on Economic Governance and Management.
The review, which runs from November 9 to 16 2025, was sanctioned by President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, and aims to assess the country’s progress in implementing APRM recommendations while identifying areas for improvement.
The process is being conducted across all provinces under the supervision of Ambassador Aly El-Hefny, a Member of the African Peer Review Panel of Eminent Persons, who is leading a six-member delegation from the APRM Continental Secretariat.
According to the itinerary, the delegation will hold a Focus Group Discussion Session at the Municipality of Beitbridge Boardroom on Friday from 9 a.m., engaging various stakeholders including local chambers of commerce, civil society networks, universities, and traditional and religious leaders.
The meeting will be followed by a visit to key sites such as the Beitbridge Border Post.
In a statement, Secretary for Presidential Affairs in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti, emphasised the importance of the exercise, describing it as a matter of national interest aimed at strengthening governance systems.
“The review process is of national interest and is aimed at assessing the country’s progress in implementing APRM recommendations and identifying areas for improvement,” he said.
Provincial authorities have been urged to prioritise the exercise and ensure the participation and mobilisation of at least 50 relevant stakeholders from across the province.
The APRM Targeted Review on Economic Governance and Management focuses on evaluating fiscal discipline, transparency, accountability, and overall economic management across African Union member states.
