Owen Ndlovu found dead after reported hijacking and kidnapping in Katlehong.

Former SABC Sports presenter Owen Ndlovu has died following an alleged kidnapping in Gauteng.

His family confirmed his death in a statement released on Wednesday afternoon.

Ndlovu reportedly disappeared in Katlehong on Tuesday night while collecting his wife from church.

According to The South African Police Service (SAPS), three men confronted him during the incident.

Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said Ndlovu was attacked on Tuesday night while he was on his way to fetch his wife from a church service.

“As she approached their vehicle, three unknown men, one reportedly armed with a firearm, suddenly approached them, pushed her aside and forced her husband into the back seat of his Ford Raptor bakkie. The suspects then drove off with the victim,” said Nevhuhulwi.

Nevhuhulwi said Ndlovu was found dead in Thokoza on Wednesday.

“His body was found dumbed next to the road. Postmortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death.”

She said the hijacked bakkie was later recovered abandoned in Walkerville.

Nevhuhulwi said police in Katlehong have launched a manhunt for three suspects.

“Anyone with information that could assist police in locating the victim or identifying and arresting the suspects is urged to contact the Crime Stop Line on 08600 10111 or provide anonymous tip-offs on MySapsApp which can be downloaded on any smartphone,” she said.
