FOUR men believed Somalian were on Monday intercepted as they attempted sneaking into South Africa concealed in a truck trunk in what appears organised human trafficking bust by vehicle scanning devices.

The trunk in which they were packed like sardines was locked with nuts which appeared a rehearsed practice of carrying humans illegally in that country.

‘I can confirm we have arrested those four Somalis who were concealed in a truck trunk,” Immigration Office Regiional Manager Chibundu said.

“The people were picked by scanners and we were advised of the development, ” he said.
The four and the truck driver are expected in court on Tuesday.

Beitbridge has become synonymous with human trafficking with foreigners either being smuggled in buses, trucks, ordinary cars or walked across the dry Limpopo Riverbed.

It is understood the smuggling of Somalis pays well.
