A team of opticians will on Wednesday 27 May conduct a free eye screening programme at the Beitbridge boarder Pedestrian Boardroom.

The Pedestrian Boardroom is housed in the pedestrian section which also handles private motorists.

The program will begin at 0900 hours as part of an initiative aimed at promoting early detection and management of eye conditions.

Beitbridge Regional Immigration Officer Joshua Chibundu told Ziyah News Network that the programme was initiated by his head office.

“It’s an initiative from head office and their target group was immigration officers, but they are open to anyone willing to be screened,” said Chibundu.

Chibundu said the outreach was designed to encourage regular eye check-ups and improve awareness of eye health among officers and the wider community.

While the screening services will be offered free of charge, patients requiring further management or treatment for identified conditions may be required to pay for additional services.

The exercise is expected to assist in the early identification of common eye problems, which health experts say can worsen if left untreated.

Organisers have encouraged interested individuals to attend the screening early.
