The world ‘s second largest cocoa producer nation ‘s President elect John Dramani Mahama is set to be sworn in today, for his second term after a huge political comeback, triumphing in the December 7 ,2024 presidential elections.


The West African nation struggled with economic crisis under Mahama’s first term from 2012 to 2016 which led to his defeat .Fast forward to 2024, President elect Mahama returns with a fresh mandate to tackle apparent high unemployment rate, inflation and corruption in what could be a redemption period for the leader.


Mahama will no doubt be under pressure to deliver quickly on campaign promises and to solve high youth unemployment, jihadist insurgencies that he is about to inherit from his predecessor Nana Akufo Addo who steps down after serving two terms.


Meanwhile, several delegates and heads of state including Botswana‘s president Duma Boko and Honourable Dr Phenyo Butale will attend the inauguration ceremony of the president elect Mahama.


The country has sworn in 13 presidents since it gained independence in 1957 with Dr Nkwameh Nkrumah sworn as its first president in 1960.Ghana is home to the largest artificial lake ,lake Volta and also the major gold producing nation in Africa.
