The community of Chipinge has been left in shock after a 20 year old man from the area was arrested for allegedly raping a 4 year old juvenile.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the accused person had sexual intercourse with minor, who is defenseless and incapable of giving consent under the law.
The matter came to light when the Complainant’s young brother demonstrated to his mother what had happened in the accused’s room.
The mother then made a police report and the Complainant was reffered to hospital for a medical examination.
The accused person was sentenced to 15 years in Jail by the Chipinge Magistrate Court.
Mothers should always look out for their girl children, as they are often vulnerable to rape and abuse by men.
In 2024, President Emmerson Mnangagwa signed the Criminal Laws Amendment (Protection of Children and Young Persons) Bill,2024.The law condems sexual activities with Children under 18 years and anyone who engage in sexual relationship will be jailed a minimum 15 years.
