Harare – ‘Heavenly Commander’ Prophet Madungwe, a 38-year-old man from Hatfield, was sentenced to six months imprisonment, with three months suspended on condition that he completes 105 hours of community service. He was convicted and sentenced by the Epworth Magistrates’ Court.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Prophet Talent Madungwe (38) from Hatfield, in Harare, was brought before the Epworth Magistrates’ Court facing two counts of contravening the Road Traffic Act, namely driving without a valid licence and negligent driving.
On the 6th of August 2024, at around 10:20 hours, the accused was driving a Toyota Aqua out of his home when he made a right turn and side-swiped a Nissan NP300 single cab along a strip road next to Airport Road, coming from the south and heading towards Harare CBD.
The vehicle sustained minor damage to the load box. The accused was driving without a valid licence.
He was sentenced to a wholly suspended four months imprisonment for the first count, on condition that he does not commit an offence involving negligent driving in the next five years.
For the second count, he was sentenced to six months imprisonment, of which three months were suspended for five years. The remaining three months were suspended on the condition that he completes 105 hours of community service.
