For raping his boss’s niece, a 25 year old man from Honde Valley will spend the next 15 years in prison after being convicted and sentenced by a Mutare Magistrate on charges of rape.
The accused person was employed by the complainant’s grandmother as a domestic worker. On the 28th of February 2024 at around 2000hours the complainant who is in Form 2 was at home with her siblings. After having supper the complainant’s siblings went to sleep whilst she proceeded to take a bath. When the complainant finished taking a bath she went to her bedroom and she was singing. The light suddenly went off and when she tried to switch it back on he grabbed her in the darkness and ordered her to be quiet. He covered her nose and mouth with his hand before pushing her onto her bed where he raped her.
As he was about to leave the complainant’s parents arrived. The complainant’s mother saw him through the window, standing inside the bedroom. Her father tried to stop him but he managed to escape into the darkness. A Police report was made and investigations led to the accused person’s arrest.
