Hwange-A Hwange man will rue the day he let his jealousy take full control of him escalating to obsessive levels leading him to grievously attacking his ex-wife for moving on with her love life.
The accused Dominic Ncube (52) appeared before the Hwange Magistrates’ Court on attempted murder charges.
The 30 year old complainant is the accused person’s ex-wife. On the 18th of October 2023 the accused person confronted the complainant whilst she was working in her field and registered his displeasure with her decision to remarry. A misunderstanding arose between the two and the accused person struck the complainant with a stick twice on the back. He tripped her and when she fell to the ground he took out two needles from his pocket which he inserted in her chest and abdomen. He then ran away. The complainant was rescued by her husband who took her to the Police Station to file a Police report before she was taken to the hospital.
The accused person was convicted and sentenced to 6 years imprisonment of which 2 years were suspended. He will serve 4 years effectively.
Meanwhile the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe is urging members of the public to desist from violence and resolve their disputes amicably or seek third party mediation.
