A 39-year-old resident of Makwika Village in Hwange, has been sentenced to 103 hours of community service by the Hwange Magistrates’ Court for malicious damage to property.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Edmore Muleya threw stones at his neighbor Siphathisiwe Mathe’s house, causing significant damage to 14 asbestos sheets, a deep freezer, a bucket, and a door, with total losses amounting to US$614.
Mathe, who was inside praying at the time of the incident, reported the matter to the police, leading to Muleya’s arrest.
Muleya’s sentence reflects the court’s commitment to holding individuals accountable for their actions while also providing an opportunity for rehabilitation through community service.
