Armed robbers allegedly attacked the farm of Patrick Chinamasa, the ZANU PF Secretary for Legal Affairs, stealing a brand-new Mazda BT-50 double cab truck, a gun, and other valuables in a shocking nighttime raid.
According to reports the robbery happened when four men entered the farm and overpowered the security guard at the main entrance.
They then tied up the farm manager and the guard before taking them into the main farmhouse. While covering them with blankets, the robbers ransacked the house.
“They searched every part of the house for cash. We found overturned beds and sofas; it was clear they were mainly after money,” Mrs. Chinamasa told Manica Post
The robbers took the keys to their new Mazda BT-50, which had only been driven 12,000 kilometers and had not yet been registered.
They also stole a pistol from a locked cabinet, a box of oil for the gun, and several kitchen knives.
Witnesses believe the robbers arrived at the farm in a white Toyota Wish, which might have been used for their escape.
The case is now being handled by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Rusape, where officers are working to find the suspects.
This high-profile incident, involving someone as important as Patrick Chinamasa in the ruling ZANU PF party, has also raised concerns about safety and security in the region.
