Gwanda- In a landmark moment for Gwanda and the Matabeleland South province, the town’s pioneering gated community, the Indaba Estates being launched as Mat South catches the wave of infrastructure boom currently being experienced in the country.
The luxury residential development is being championed Charlesdale Luxury Properties was launched today in the Mat South capital and is expected to be transform the face of housing in the town.
Spanning 64 hectares and offering 2,000-square-metre low-density stands , Indaba Estates becomes Gwanda’s and Matabeleland South’s first modern gated community, setting a new benchmark in urban development and luxury living in the region.
Indaba Estates promises a transformative impact not only on the town’s skyline but also on its future. Located just 5km from the town centre , the development includes its own shopping mall, ensuring residents enjoy both comfort and convenience.
The event was graced by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland South, Honourable Albert Nguluvhe, who hailed the development as a shining example of local vision and initiative.
“A nation is built by its own people,” the Honourable Minister said, quoting President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s famous statement.
“The move by Charlesdale is a shining example of what vision, investment, and love for one’s home can achieve. Shelter is not just a right it is the foundation upon which we build our lives. May this development be the pride of our community and a catalyst for delivering more transformative projects in our province.”
The Minister went on to commend Charles Denecker for “leaving behind a legacy that will serve generations.”
He called on the Gwanda Town Clerk to urgently begin the sale of serviced stands, encouraging locals not to be left behind in what he called a “once-in-a-century opportunity.”
Gwanda has waited 125 years for such a milestone, the arrival of its first gated community and with the development of Indaba Estates, that long wait is over.
Speaking at the launch, Levin Denecker, Chairman of Charlesdale Luxury Properties, emphasized the role the estate will play in addressing the housing shortage in Zimbabwe.
“We are proud to be pioneers of Gwanda’s first gated community. This is more than a housing project – Indaba is a catalyst for transformation. Gwanda has always been a rich community in heritage and potential. Let us now build on that legacy,” be remarked.
He added that Indaba Estates marks the beginning of a new chapter, one that aligns with Zimbabwe’s housing and economic development agenda, including Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1)
Gwanda Town Clerk Priscilla Nkala applauded Charlesdale for its contribution to the town’s growing appeal:
“Indaba Estates is a testament to our town’s growth and will contribute immensely to our journey towards becoming an upper-middle-income economy by 2030. This is not just a construction project – it is a symbol of progress. It will provide safe and secure homes for families and uplift the entire community.”
Nkala urged the developer to work closely with the Town Council and the Engineering Services Departmen to ensure smooth implementation and avoid conflicts during the development process.
The selling of stands with the gated community is expected to commence soon, transforming housing in the town towards modern standards.
