Sengezo Tshabangu, the self-styled interim secretary general of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has filed an urgent application to the High Court in a bid to prevent his recall from Parliament.
This move comes as Tshabangu, who previously orchestrated mass recalls that led to Nelson Chamisa’s resignation from the party, now faces a similar threat to his Senate position.
Having been expelled from the Welshman Ncube-led CCC, Tshabangu is concerned about an imminent removal from his seat.
In his application, case number HCH875/25, he argues that his recall would be unlawful and cites a disciplinary hearing held by the CCC on February 12, claiming it was irregularly constituted.
Tshabangu asserts that the hearing was conducted by a disciplinary committee that was unlawfully established.
He is seeking an interdict to stop the Speaker of the National Assembly from declaring his seat vacant, as well as a declaratory order affirming his continued tenure in Parliament.
