Reigning Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns claimed a 2-0 victory over 10-man Magesi FC at Seshego Stadium yesterday.

Following their disappointing 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 semi-final, the Brazilians bounced back strongly to secure maximum points against Dikwena Tsa Metsi.

Jayden Adams opened the scoring in the 74th minute before Peter Shalulile doubled the lead, beating Zimbabwean international goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze. The Namibian striker’s goal saw him equal Siyabonga Nomvethe’s record as the joint all-time top scorer in the South African Premier Soccer League with 129 goals.

Zimbabwean defender Devine Lunga was named Man of the Match after a stellar performance that helped Sundowns collect three valuable points.

Meanwhile, Soweto giants Orlando Pirates registered their first win of the season in three attempts, edging Stellenbosch FC 1-0.

At Princess Magogo Stadium, Marumo Gallants went down 1-0 to AmaZulu FC, with Keagan Allan breaking the deadlock to hand Usuthu a crucial victory.
