Beitbridge side Vhembe Stars Academy stunned Gwanda Stars with a 4-2 victory yesterday at Dulibadzimu Stadium.
The win boosted the Greens’ hopes of challenging for the Matabeleland South Division 2 Pool A title as they push for promotion to the Central Region Soccer League Division One.
Meanwhile, fellow Beitbridge outfit Dulibadzimu United continues to struggle in the Central Region Soccer League Division One after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to seasoned contenders Chapungu FC.
The loss marked Dulibadzimu’s seventh defeat in 20 matches this season and extended new coach Fortune Ncube’s losing streak to three consecutive games since his debut against Grain Tigers.
Elsewhere, the high-flying Sheasham FC, popularly known as The Construction Boys, maintained their dominance with a 1-0 win over FC Platinum U19.
Sheasham remain three points clear at the top of the table, ahead of impressive debutants Hard Rock FC.
