A Beitbridge man, Clement Nyathi, has been granted a five-year protection order against his nephew, Dovani Ncube.
Nyathi appeared before Magistrate Mbonisi Kaweni on Thursday, this week seeking the court’s intervention over what he described as persistent assaults, insults, threats, and acts of disrespect by Ncube.
In his testimony, Nyathi told the court that his nephew regularly assaulted and insulted him and failed to show him respect as an elder.
“He assaults and insults me. He disrespects me and sometimes opens his animals into my field. He also threatens to beat me sometimes also and does not see me as an elder,” said Nyathi.
In his response, Ncube said he did not oppose the application.
“I have no objection,” he said.
After hearing submissions from both parties,Kaweni granted the protection order and barred Ncube from assaulting and insulting or threatening Nyathi.
The order will remain in force for a period of five years.
