President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged Zimbabwe’s youth to prioritize patriotism and reject substance abuse, emphasizing that these values are crucial for the country’s progress.
Speaking at the Munhumutapa Day celebrations in Zvishavane, Midlands Province, the President stressed the importance of national unity, hard work, and protecting the country’s sovereignty.
“True patriotism means putting our country first, protecting our culture, and defending the sovereignty that was won through the blood and sacrifice of our liberation heroes,” President Mnangagwa said.
He called on young people, both at home and in the diaspora, to shun divisive tendencies and substance abuse, which can undermine national development.
“I call upon you, the youth of our country, as well as our Zimbabwean youth in the diaspora, to shun these vices,” he emphasized.
The President warned that substance abuse can rob individuals of their potential and weaken families, ultimately damaging the nation’s fabric.
“Drugs will rob you of your ability to fulfil your God-given purpose and destiny and also weaken families, ultimately leading to the degradation of our national fabric,” he stated.
He emphasized that only patriotic and sober young people with a clear national consciousness can build a prosperous Zimbabwe.
