Herald Beitbridge Bureau Chief Thupeyo Muleya, also Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) Matabeleland South Chairperson, has scooped two awards at the National Journalism and Media Awards (NJAMA) 2024/25.
Muleya was named Best Tax Education Reporter and also emerged runner-up Mining Reporter of the Year 2024/25.
With over 20 years of experience in journalism, Muleya has previously won more than six national awards for his outstanding reporting in areas such as gender, community development, transport and logistics, customs, and climate change, among others.
Speaking to Ziyah News Network after receiving the awards, Muleya said
“Being recognised gives one the encouragement to continue to do well. The success comes with a good support system at home, at work and in the media sector. I hope to see more reporters from the region getting awards in various reporting fields.”
Fellow journalists and industry colleagues took to social media to congratulate him.
Rex Mphisa, who has been in the industry for three decades, was among those who commended Muleya’s achievement.
Public Relations Officer at Beitbridge Municipality, Raniel Ndou, also congratulated him, saying:
“Congratulations bro, keep on representing. The sky is the limit.”
Muleya continues to be recognised as one of the region’s most consistent and dedicated journalists, known for his in-depth reporting and commitment to telling impactful community stories.
