The Minister of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Albert Nguluvhe, has commended individuals and companies contributing to the growth and transformation of Beitbridge, describing them as the backbone of the town’s development.

Minister Nguluvhe made the remarks on Saturday during the Business Expo Fundraising Dinner held at Ronnie’s Arena in Beitbridge.

“Tonight is about recognising those who have done well and contributed to the development of the town,” said Nguluvhe.

“This is an important area that we sometimes neglect forgetting individuals and companies that have given Beitbridge its identity,” he said

Nguluvhe took time to acknowledge several business figures and companies, both past and present, who have played a pivotal role in shaping Beitbridge’s development.

Among those mentioned were Raymond Roth (Mujuta), vhoDS, vhoAram, VI Stores, Mashakada Rice, Silvers, Chouhan, Carinus, Kalulu, Stonehouse, N&R, Peter Chiromo, as well as younger entrepreneurs and enterprises such as Charles Mulowa (Terry), Mushipe, Renatho Manavhela, the late Christmas Nguluvhe aka Shuleshule, Stubbs, Regstep, Brian Mungofa, Felix Venge (Samas), Tinashe Mabhidi, Nkululeko Mbedzi, Hosea Muleya, Oscar Chiromo, Dzobo of Blue Villa, Venda Lodge, Mutsa Lodge, Bigboy Tshitaudze, Roy Muleya, Bheji Muleya, Mashavire, and Mangavha, to name a few.

“These are the people and institutions that have shaped this town’s infrastructure and contributed immensely to its identity,” he said.

Nguluvhe stressed the importance of institutionalising recognition programs in collaboration with the Beitbridge Municipality to ensure that exceptional individuals and corporates are celebrated annually for their developmental efforts.

“We should, as a matter of practice and working with the Beitbridge Municipality, ensure that every year we support and recognise those developing this town,” he said.

He also reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting local development initiatives and strengthening public-private partnerships that drive growth, job creation, and infrastructure development in Beitbridge.

The Government of Zimbabwe has consistently emphasized the critical role of the private sector in achieving the national vision of transforming the country into an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.

Under Vision 2030, government policy prioritizes collaboration between public institutions and private enterprises to boost productivity, industrialization, innovation, and investment across all sectors of the economy.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has repeatedly stated that the private sector is the engine for economic growth, capable of driving job creation, value addition, and export expansion.

The government has therefore implemented a range of ease of doing business reforms, devolution programs, and investment incentives aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship and local economic development.

The gathering, which brought together business leaders, community members, and government officials, highlighted the crucial role of local entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibility in advancing Beitbridge’s transformation into a modern, thriving border town and, ultimately, Zimbabwe’s march toward Vision 2030.
