THE Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland South, Hon. Albert Nguluvhe, will be the guest of honour at a fundraising dinner being hosted by Lotsha FM later this month.

The event, scheduled for June 26 at Purple Heart Hall in Beitbridge, is aimed at raising funds to support the operations of the district’s only licensed community radio station.

According to the station, proceeds from the fundraising dinner will help cover key operational expenses, including office rentals, staff allowances, equipment maintenance, compliance fees and other running costs necessary to keep the station on air.

A major highlight of the event will be the official unveiling of a new Public Address (PA) system purchased using funds donated by Vice President Kembo Mohadi.

The equipment is expected to strengthen the station’s capacity to conduct outside broadcasts and provide enhanced coverage of community events.

Speaking ahead of the fundraiser, Lotsha FM Station Manager Miss Progress Moyo said the event presents an opportunity for stakeholders and community members to contribute towards the sustainability of the station.

“We are a community radio station run by the people, for the people. The funds we raise will help us stay on air, serve our listeners better, and meet our compliance obligations,” she said.

Lotsha FM operates as a non-profit community radio station serving Beitbridge District and surrounding communities. The station provides local news, information, educational programmes and a platform for community engagement.

Organisers have appealed to corporates, well-wishers and members of the public to support the initiative through ticket purchases, sponsorships and donations.

The station says support from the community will play a critical role in ensuring the continued growth and sustainability of local broadcasting in the district.
