NORTON – A 29-year-old man from Maridale, Norton, has been arrested and remanded in custody facing charges of murder after a fatal stabbing incident that occurred in the early hours of August 25, 2025.
The suspect, identified as Pardon Jena, appeared before the Norton Magistrates’ Court following his arrest in connection with the death of a man who was allegedly stabbed during a dispute.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Jena and the victim had been seen leaving Seaways Bar together at around 2:00 am. A confrontation later broke out near Kufa Garage, where Jena allegedly stabbed the victim in the neck, leading to his death.
The body was discovered by a passerby who alerted the authorities. Police investigators later recovered evidence, including blood-stained shoes reportedly worn by the accused at the time of the incident. Jena was arrested later that day near Petro Trade Garage in Norton.
The State has opposed bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, and investigations are still ongoing.
The NPAZ has urged the public to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes, warning that murder is a grave crime with severe consequences.
“Murder is a grave crime. Members of the public are urged to solve their disputes amicably,” the authority said in a statement.
