THE National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has deferred the payment of its November 2025 annual bonus, citing ongoing financial constraints and will instead prioritise the disbursement of December 2025 salaries starting in early January 2026.
In a statement on Thursday, NRZ Acting General Manager Ainah Kaguru informed employees that although November salaries were fully paid, the annual bonus had not yet been disbursed due to financial challenges that continue to constrain the organisation.
Kaguru said the management has resolved to first pay December 2025 salaries with disbursements expected to begin during the week commencing January 5, 2026.
“NRZ anticipates that all employees will receive both the Zimbabwe Gold (ZWG) and United States dollar components of their salaries by January 25 2026, after which bonus payments will commence,”she said.
She further said that December 2025 salaries will be paid on a 50 percent ZWG and 50 percent USD basis.
Kaguru said employees should remain patient as the organisation works through the prevailing economic difficulties.
NRZ has in recent years faced persistent operational and financial challenges including declining freight volumes aging infrastructure and limited capital investment.
These pressures have periodically affected the organisation’s ability to meet its financial obligations, including the timely payment of employee benefits as it continues efforts to stabilise operations and improve revenue generation.
