Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department’s Drugs and Narcotics unit have arrested 35-year-old Dudzai Chigume at Kwame Mall in Harare for the unlawful possession and sale of unregistered medicines.
Circumstances are that intelligence, law enforcement officials raided Chigume’s shop, located at number 82 Kwame Mall, where they discovered a substantial cache of contraband, including various sex enhancers and pills purportedly designed for hip, butt, breast, and penis enlargement.
These unregistered medical products can pose health risks to the consumers.
Chigume is currently in custody as investigations continue.
Recently, a prison officer, Energy Chivasa aged 29 years from Zvishavane was arrested for unlawful possession of unregistered medicines.
This is an indication that in Zimbabwe there is proliferation of unregulated medical products which pose health risks to consumers
The Zimbabwean Republic Police is fighting to end unregistered medicines in the country thus protecting health and safety of the Zimbabwean citizens.
The public is implored to cooperate with the teams and report all drug peddling activities.
More arrests may follow as police delve deeper into the distribution network of these unregistered pharmaceuticals.
