President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Caleb Makwiranzou as the Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development responsible for Oil and Gas Research including other Strategic Minerals Exploration with immediate effect and Albert Tawanda Mavunga, as the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works.

The appointments were announced by the Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya with immediate effect.

“In terms of Section 104, Subsection 2 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President, Cde. Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has appointed Honourable Caleb Makwiranzou, M.P. as the Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development responsible for Oil and Gas Research including other Strategic Minerals Exploration with immediate effect.

Albert Tawanda Mavunga was also appointed s the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works

‘In terms of Section 104, Subsection 2 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President, Cde. Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has appointed Honourable Albert Tawanda Mavunga, M.P. as the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works responsible for Local Authorities and Traditional Leadership with immediate effect.”

Both Ministers were appointed with immediate effect.

The appointment of Makwiranzou comes at a time when Zimbabwe is currently exploring oil and gas in Muzarabani with promising prospects especially on gas.
