NYASHA Tayiya, a 38-year-old rape suspect and director of Cool Time Ice cream company who fled his residence in the midst of his trial a week ago, on Tuesday formaly announced his relocation to Masvingo, advising the court to alter his place of residence.

He now lives in Masvingo after moving from the Medium Density in Beitbridge, an address he presented in his successful bail application earlier.

Apart from that his lawyer Tawonga Musina of Musina of Musina Law Attorneys did not have anything to alter on his bail conditions when he appeared in court Tuesday.

Tayiya was remanded to Wednesday June 17, for continuation of his trial.

The State is expected to call its second witness, the woman informed first about the alleged rape at a lodge in the outskirts of Beitbridge.

Tayiya is accused of rape of his employee allegedly after lacing her beverage with an unknown substance, a charge he vehemently denies.

He said the complainant not named to protect her dignity was his lover and the act was consensual.

He was in court last Tuesday where his alleged victim and employee broke down as she narrated the events.

She told magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba she had “whitish stuff with blood” on her privates although she does not remember how this came upon her.

The victim said she became dizzy and finally was blacked out as he carried her on a motorcycle in first at the back, then in front as they rode on a dust road where she passed out.

Tayiya had taken her out “to show her some new things at work” where she had just been recruited as a maiden unknown to men.
