A villager from Chamaswiswi village in Beitbridge East tied his wife’s hands with a string and beat her with iron bars and logs inflicting fractures and various body injuries alleging she still shared love with her former husband.

Worried by the advanced state of injuries Thomas Ndou smuggled his wife Ludzani Nguluvhe to South Africa for treatment but threatened her to conceal the heinous ordeal.

Ndou, 46, now faces an attempted murder charge after h8s wife’s injuries were discovered by her relatives resulting in his arrest.

He has appeared before regional magistrate Charity Maphosa and was remanded in custody.

Prosecutor Olivia Chamutinya told the court that on May 24, 2026 at around 1700 hours Ndou was coming from a traditional ceremony and he found her wife at home with her neighbour when he took her aside and questioned why she was still having an affair with her ex-husband.

When Nguluvhe tried explaining herself Ndou failed would have non of it and struck her with an iron bar once on the head, tied her both hands with a Mopane Tree bark, hit her several times on her hands with a log. He also stoned her several times all over the body.

Somehow Ludzani managed to free herself but failed to run away because of pain and the Ndou left her.
On May 25 Ndou took Ludzani to South Africa for treatment and threatened to kill her if she reported the matter to the police.

But as fate would have it the matter came to light when Ludzani by her relatives who reported the case to the police on June 6, 2026 leading to Ndou’s arrest.

Ludzani was taken to Beitbridge District Hospital for Medical examination whose results can be produced as evidence.

Ndou is represented by Government”s Legal Aid Resources.
