Happymore Chidziva, the Glen View Member of Parliament who has been on the police wanted list has finally been apprehended. He presented himself to police in the company of his lawyer.
Chidziva attracted the ire of the law after being exposed for having a sexual affair with an underage girl who is a relative of his wife, has been on the run since police issued a statement that he was wanted in connection with the allegations.
Chidziva, who is married to the aunt of the alleged victim, is accused of showering the 16-year-old girl with gifts before engaging in sexual intercourse with her on multiple occasions including in some lodges.
Webster Jiti, the lawyer, who is representing the teen’s family had written to the police on September 20 seeking an update on the case, which had been initiated earlier in the month.
Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed Chidziva’s arrest saying , “Happymore Chidziva has been on the run, the Police have been trying to locate him and we had to look for him at all the given addresses, we had to appeal for him to surrender to the police, so that due process of the law can be followed. We are happy the suspect has been located.”
