THE real sex predator is still at large!

That was the discovery late Thursday night when police said they were still on the hunt for the running rape suspect who has rocked Beitbridge East.

“The man apprehended by villagers along Harare road is not the wanted rape suspect and was released,” the officer commanding Beitbridge police district Chief Superintendent Mesuli Ncube.

It is understood the man who fitted the description of the wanted suspect was picking empty beverage cans along the highway when the misfortune befell him.

Villagers quickly announced their success and administered some instant justice.

It is not clear how badly injured he was and whether the villagers have been charged.

“We are still appealing for information that may help us arrest the suspect. We deployed drones and dogs to Beitbridge East but to no avail,” he said.

Villagers tracking the suspect said he had crossed to Beitbridge West and had been reportedly gone to either Malala or Makakavhule.

On Friday villagers shared images of his footprint and the general direction he was travelling.

Some villagers believe he has magic after failing to explain how the limping man managed to elude different parties going after him.

“I can only conclude use of magic because there is no logical explanation on how he eludes dogs and human who have chased him and were unsuccessful,” said Laina Moyo from Mawale.

Some people are concerned that if the man is apprehended by villagers in the absence of police they are likely to harm him.
