The Southern African Development Community senior officials are meeting in Harare from February until the 26th of February in preparation for the SADC Ministers meeting under the same cluster.
SADC Secretariat highlighted that the gathering serves as key platform, and groundwork for the upcoming SADC cluster meeting of ministers responsible for transport, information and meteorology.
“This gathering serves as a key advisory platform, preparing the groundwork for the upcoming SADC Cluster Meeting of Ministers responsible for Transport, ICT, Information, and Meteorology, scheduled for 28th February 2025 in Harare. Over the three days, Senior Officials will review policies, regulatory frameworks, and the implementation status of sector-specific programmes in preparation of the Ministers’ meeting,” SADC Secretariat stated.
Chairperson of SADC Senior officials and Secretary for the ministry of Transport and infrastructure development of Zimbabwe Engeneer Joy Makumbe emphasised that the meeting will discus the importance of sustainable development through infrastructure modernisation, efficient transport networks, digital transformation, climate resilience, and regional integration.
After this meeting of senior officials, SADC residents will be looking forward to the Ministers to acknowledge the existing challenges in the region that require further intervention by Member States to enhance these sectors.
