Pedzisai ‘Scott’ Sakupwanya, the president and founder of premiers soccer league newsboys Scottland Football Club, has rewarded a young fan with US$1,000 for his remarkable prediction of the team’s victory over CAPS United this past weekend.
The lucky recipient, known as Sir Dhedwa, hails from Mbare and accurately forecasted Scottland FC’s 2-0 win against CAPS United during the match held at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday, March 9.
This victory keeps Scottland FC unbeaten and on a winning streak, having won their two opening matches this season.
Goals for Scottland FC were scored in the second half by players Tymon Machope and Sadney Urikhob, cementing their status as the pace setters
Sir Dhedwa, an avid football fan and self-proclaimed supporter of Cristiano Ronaldo, has recently thrown his allegiance behind Scottland FC.
In a humorous declaration of loyalty, he brandished a placard during the match, promising to eat sadza with Surf washing powder if his new favorite team were to be defeated by CAPS United.
The placard satirically read “If Scottland is defeated by CAPS United, I will eat sadza with Surf washing powder.”
His keen predictions didn’t stop at the Scottland-CAPS United match; Dhedwa also anticipated that CAPS United (widely known as Makepekepe) would lose 2-0 to Mabvirabvira, and there are unverified reports that he correctly predicted Scottland’s opening 1-0 victory over Triangle United as well.
Sakupwanya’s generous act is just one component of his broader charitable initiatives, which focus on supporting local communities in various ways including sport.
