Police in Shamva have arrested Tawanda Makamba (35) in connection with cases of impersonating a police officer and extortion following a tip-off on Saturday the 26th of July 2025.
According to the Zimbabwean Republic Police, Makamba, along with two accomplices who remain at large, allegedly posed as detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Stores and Business. The trio reportedly arrested the complainant in Shamva on allegations of theft of a cellphone.
During the encounter, the suspects demanded a payment of USD 30 from the complainant, which was allegedly paid in order to secure their release.
.Makamba is expected to face charges related to impersonation and extortion as investigations continue.
