A 16 year old form 3 student from Chinhoyi was arrested for assaulting a fellow form 2 student using a chain and hose pipe several times all over the body. He was convicted and sentenced by Chinhoyi Magistrates Court.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), reports that accused person claimed that the complainant hired some students to assault him.
He slapped the complainant five times on the face, and later in the day, the accused person in the company of other students yet to be identified, assaulted the complainant using a chain and hose pipe several times all over the body.
The complainant was rescued by a passer-by and the accused person fled the scene.
The complainant subsequently went to the police and filed a report leading to the accused person’s arrest. The teenager was lucky to escape jail as his four months in prison where wholly suspended due to age and will be placed in the custody of guardians.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe continue to urge members of the public to desist from violence and resolve their disputes amicably or seek third party mediation.
