Two men from Dulibadzimu, Beitbridge, were remanded in custody until July 15, 2025, after their arrest in connection with the unlawful dealing in dangerous drugs.

The suspects were apprehended following a police operation on June 28, 2025, when a Toyota Wish vehicle was intercepted at Towla main gate in Bubye Valley Conservancy.

The vehicle, which reportedly evaded a police roadblock along the Mazunga-Maranda dust road, was searched upon arrival. Police discovered five shrink-wrapped cardboard boxes and 11 cobs of dagga inside the vehicle.

Further investigation uncovered an additional 68 cobs concealed within the boxes, bringing the total amount of dagga seized to approximately 307 kilograms, valued at around US$30,756.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) has issued a stern warning against drug abuse and illegal trafficking.

“Drug abuse and illegal trafficking are destroying lives and communities across Zimbabwe. Cases like this highlight the serious consequences of choosing the drug trade over honest living. Let this be a warning to all, the NPAZ is taking a firm stance.”
