A senior police officer aged 39 has appeared before the Lupane Magistrates Court charged with serious offenses of rape and indecent assault involving a 16-year-old female juvenile.
The victim is a student and the daughter of another police officer residing in the same police camp quarters.
According to the reports, the alleged incidents occurred in June 2025. It is reported that the accused forcibly took the minor into his residence within the police camp and sexually assaulted her. After the incident, he allegedly instructed her to leave and checked to ensure no one saw her departure.
Prior to this, the minor reportedly experienced an earlier assault when the accused approached her while she was fetching water.
It is alleged that he pushed her against a vehicle, touched her inappropriately, and attempted to kiss her. The victim managed to escape from that situation but did not immediately report the incidents to authorities.
The complainant only disclosed the alleged offense on 19 June 2025.
The suspect was subsequently detained and arraigned in court, where he was remanded to appear again on July 9, 2025.
