Two foreign nationals from DRC have been convicted after being charged for smuggling various goods from Zambia into Zimbabwe via Chirundu Border Post.

The duo, Aurora Mujinga (35) and Lolo Kapamba (45) both residing in Lumbumbashi, DRC appeared before the Chinhoyi Magistrate’s Court charged with smuggling.

Circumstances around the case are that, On June 29, 2025, at the Chirundu One Stop Border Post, the offenders unlawfully imported a significant quantity of various goods from Zambia into Zimbabwe without the required permits.

 At approximately 6:00pm on the same day, detectives from CID Chirundu received a tip-off about smuggled goods on a CAG Bus parked at the Chirundu bus terminus. The detectives proceeded to the bus terminus and directed the bus to the ZIMRA Chirundu yard for a search. During the search, three bags were found containing a variety of items, including various quantities of bleaching products including CT Plus, Lemon Plus, Dema Clair, Mark Clear, Extra Clear, Infim Clear, Princes Clear, and Cocopulp (cosmetic or medicinal creams/liquids).

The two had purchased the goods in Zambia but could not produce any customs documentation to prove declaration to ZIMRA customs, leading to their arrest. On June 30, 2025, the recovered goods were seized.

The offenders were sentenced to pay a fine of US$200 each or 4 months imprisonment in default and the goods were forfeited to the State.
