ALL eyes will be on Vhembe Stars Academy U19 and defending champions Beitbridge Juicing (BBJ) this weekend as the two sides clash in the ZIFA Matabeleland South Division Two league at Ronnies Sports Arena on Sunday.
Both teams are targeting maximum points as they vie for promotion to the Central Region Soccer League Division One.
League leaders Vhembe Stars Academy U19 currently hold a narrow two-point lead over BBJ and a one-point advantage over HaMozy FC, with seven matches remaining in the season.
Vhembe have won seven league matches, accumulating an impressive 22 points, while BBJ have recorded six victories from their 11 league outings securing 20 points.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated clash, Beitbridge Juicing coach George Ncube said his side faces a difficult test but insisted that they would give their all to secure maximum points, despite Vhembe’s determination to avenge their previous defeat.
“It’s not going to be easy, of course, but we will definitely give them a tough game. I know they will be looking for revenge, but we will handle it. We really need all the points,” Ncube said.
Elsewhere, the promotion race continues on Sunday, with second-placed HaMozy FC taking on third-placed Bishopstone in another crucial encounter.
Dulibadzimu United will face fifth-placed Nottingham Estate on the same day, while sixth-placed West Academy, who are four points behind Vhembe Stars Academy, are scheduled to take on bottom-placed Siyayo.
With promotion at stake and only seven matches remaining, the weekend’s fixtures could prove crucial in shaping the race for a place in the Central Region Soccer League Division One.
