ZIMDANCEHALL artist Jah Signal is set to share the stage with veteran sungura musician Aleck Macheso in Beitbridge on October 17, 2026, in a show expected to bring together fans of the two genres.
The performance follows their appearances in other towns and cities, including Bulawayo and Gwanda, as they continue their joint tour.
Born Nicodemus Mutize, Jah Signal developed an interest in music while growing up in the Kuwadzana area of Harare.
He attended Dzivarasekwa 1 High School and Rock Mountain Christian College before pursuing music professionally in 2011.
Influenced by his Christian background, he initially composed gospel music before transitioning to secular dancehall.
He rose to prominence through hit songs such as Sweetie (Shinga Muroora), which helped establish his reputation in Zimbabwe’s Zimdancehall scene.
Popularised by his energetic Jumps and the ‘Swaah’ intro while on stage, Jah Signal performs along with his Swaah Family Band.
In 2018, he released his milestone album Jaya, featuring songs such as Stonyeni, Rure Rure and Sweetie.
Commenting on the scheduled performance, Swaah Family Band management representative Chris Ngarande said Jah Signal was ready to deliver an energetic performance.
“Jah Signal is known for his energy on stage, and he is ready to take over the performance,”he said .
“What makes this show more special is uniting two giant genres which are leading Zimbabwe, namely Zimdancehall and sungura, thus having the power to unite people with good music.
“Not forgetting the legendary Aleck Macheso, Jah Signal feels honoured sharing a stage with a generational sungura veteran.”
“Beitbridge, expect a night of good music and energetic performance as Jah Signal rocks the stage alongside the Swaah Family Band.”
Speaking to Ziyah News Network, event coordinator DJ Keitho described the show as an event not to be missed.
“It’s a show not to miss. Beitbridge should brace up for this one,” he said.
“As always, sungura lovers and dancehall fans, let’s gather for a night of great interaction with our superstars through sing-alongs and dance.”
Local acts, including Limpopo Pogba, DJ Teddy B and MC Kay One, are also expected to entertain the crowd.
Commenting on the event, DJ Teddy B said the show would provide local performers with an opportunity to learn from the established musicians.
“It’s a great show, as local acts will learn new skills and experience as they rub shoulders with the veteran superstars on stage,” he said.
The upcoming performance is expected to bring together sungura and Zimdancehall fans for a night of live music and entertainment in Beitbridge.
