Vhembe Stars U19 will look to bounce back this weekend when they host Super Sport FC in a Matabeleland South Division 2 Pool A match at Dulibadzimu Stadium on Sunday, 2 November 2025.

The team narrowly lost their previous game to Super Strikers FC, but head coach Paul “KB” Mugabiri says preparations are on track.

“Our preparation is going well. It’s just that our captain is not feeling well, but we have enough defenders in the squad to cover his position that’s not a big problem,” Mugabiri told Ziyah News Network.

He believes the team’s current form is promising.

“If we play like we did in the second half of the Super Strikers game, we will be strong. The boys played very well despite the loss,” he said.

Mugabiri added that a lack of match rhythm contributed to the previous defeat.

“That walkover caused the boys to relax the whole week. I have learnt that playing matches consistently helps players stay in form,” he said.

He also highlighted improvements in the team’s attacking play.

“At the start of the season, we struggled with scoring, but now there’s clear improvement. After drawing our first two games, we’ve been scoring consistently.”

Team manager Kelvin “Elder” Mahoro said the squad is targeting victory.

“We always play every match like it’s a World Cup final. We’ve had enough time to prepare and are hopeful of getting three points,” Mahoro said, adding that apart from a minor knock to Marvellous Mabidi, the team is ready for the match.
