Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court has convicted Sithembile Chikamhi and sentenced him to 7 years in prison for unlawfully dealing in dangerous drugs in Beitbridge at Old Bridge along Limpopo river.


Circumstances are that while on patrol during (Operation No to Cross Border Crimes), police officers stopped and searched Chikamhi who was walking along the bridge from South Africa carrying two black traveling bags.


The search revealed three compressed, shrink-wrapped parcels hidden among grocery items and clothing in his bags.After opening the parcels, officers discovered a total of 13.716 kilograms of Dagga, valued at US$1,371.60.


Meanwhile, yesterday police in Beitbridge arrested three individuals for unlawful possession of a large quantity of dagga.


Sydney Ndlovu (39), Delight Ndlovu (37), and Diana Moyo were taken into custody after being found with 175 kilograms of dagga. The arrests were made as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.


The suspects are expected to appear in court soon to face charges related to the possession of illegal substances.
