Outspoken war veteran Blessed “Bombshell” Geza has been expelled from the ZANU PF party with immediate effect, following his vocal opposition to the extension of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s rule.
Geza, a member of the ZANU PF Central Committee, faced disciplinary action after the party’s disciplinary committee recommended his expulsion for alleged indiscipline and fostering factionalism.
The decision comes as Geza publicly criticized efforts to extend Mnangagwa’s presidency beyond the constitutionally mandated two-term limit, which ends in 2028.
ZANU PF’s Secretary for Legal Affairs, Patrick Chinamasa, announced the expulsion, stating that Geza’s actions amounted to treason, undermining the party leadership and the state machinery.
Chinamasa emphasized Geza’s disloyalty to the party, highlighting that he violated Article 19(1) of ZANU PF’s constitution, which mandates members to uphold the party’s reputation.
“Any member of the party should not make or behave in a manner which brings the name of the party into disrepute,” he stated.
Geza’s expulsion aligns with Mnangagwa’s recent warning against indiscipline among party members. Chinamasa noted that several others, including MP Benjamin Ganyiwa and Godwin Gomwe, have also been expelled over similar allegations.
“This decision reflects the politburo’s commitment to maintaining discipline and unity within ZANU PF,” Chinamasa declared.
“We must ensure our party remains unified, and we will not tolerate any actions that threaten this unity.”
Geza was expelled alongside Harare Province executive member Godfrey Gomwe, while Kudakwashe Damson was suspended for 3 years
