WEST Nicholson secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Chapungu in Match Day 11 of the Central Region Soccer League Division One at Phelandaba Stadium on Wednesday, 10 June 2026.

The win ended Chapungu’s impressive unbeaten run, with the Airmen having gone 10 games unbeaten.

A first-half goal by Derek Masuku in the 22nd minute was enough for the hosts to secure maximum points.

The victory saw West Nicholson move to 5th position with 22 points from 7 wins, 1 draw, and 3 defeats, just one point behind 4th-placed Kwekwe United.

Chapungu remain top of the Central Region Soccer League Division One log with 26 points after 11 games.

Compared to last season, both sides have improved significantly. After Match Day 10 last campaign, Chapungu had accumulated 16 points from 4 wins, 4 draws, and 2 defeats, sitting 4th on the table. Meanwhile, West Nicholson had 3 wins, 2 draws, and 5 defeats for 11 points, sitting 11th.

This season, both teams have been impressive, recording more points and victories, while conceding fewer goals.

Chapungu will now turn their attention to Match Day 12, where they face debutants Sabi Gold Mine FC on Saturday, 13 June 2026, as they look to bounce back and regain their winning momentum.
