Harare-Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo has come to the aid of comedian Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima once again, after the loss of his previous vehicle in a December 2024 car accident.
Kapfupi recently reached out to Chivayo, requesting help to replace his damaged car. Responding warmly, Chivayo confirmed on Sunday, June 1, 2025, that he had seen the message and was willing to assist.
In a Facebook post, Chivayo said, “My dear Mwanangu Kapfupi, I saw your message and I appreciate your humility in asking for help. A person who truly needs something will always find a way, and I believe there’s nothing wrong with your request. Some people may mock or criticize, but there are forces that don’t want to see good things come into our lives.”
He instructed Kapfupi to visit Madzibaba Chipaga to collect a new Toyota Aqua, similar to the one he lost. But Chivayo’s support extended beyond just the vehicle. He also promised to give US$3,000 — US$2,000 for Kapfupi’s personal use and US$1,000 to cover car insurance. He emphasized that the insurance money should be used to purchase comprehensive coverage, so that if Kapfupi is involved in another accident, he won’t risk losing the car again.
Chivayo explained that Kapfupi would first receive the vehicle’s paperwork in his name. After paying for insurance and obtaining the cover note, he could return to Madzibaba Chipaga to pick up his new car.
He added, “Tomorrow, go to Madzibaba Chipaga and collect your new Aqua as you requested. You will also receive US$3,000 — US$2,000 for your personal needs, and US$1,000 to get comprehensive insurance, which typically costs around 5-10% of the car’s value. Since your car is valued at $9,000, the $1,000 will cover insurance for the entire year. You will be given the registration book in your name, and after paying for insurance and collecting the cover note, you can pick up your vehicle. I hope I’ve fulfilled your request because, during tough times, love and support matter most. Let’s continue to pray and stay united. Thank you, and enjoy your new car!”
This generous gesture highlights Chivayo’s ongoing commitment to supporting Kapfupi and other artists who have benefitted from his car gifting spree which is now valued close to US$ 10 million
