In a development that cast a shadow on how some members of the ruling party continue to abuse programmes being championed by the Party and Government, the ZANU-PF youth league has suspended two Provincial members for abusing the Presidential Heifer Pass on Scheme.
The two, Cde Stembeni Madzima and Cde Maringa Phiri, are part of the 88 youths who received the heifers at Chegutu in Mash West last week.
It is being alleged that the two after receiving the heifers , did not waste time but went straight to butchery owners looking for potential buyers who were so reluctant to buy the cattle at first. The two managed to convince the buyers who at last bought the heifers at giveaways prices.
The Presidential Heifer Pass on Scheme is meant to boost both economic independence, national livestock production to ensure food security for vulnerable people especially in rural areas with beneficiaries expected to pass on calves produced by the heifers to other farmers for the continuity of the programme.
Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, both ruling party activist are currently in remand prison for abusing another Presidential empowerment scheme this time involving goats.
